The construction on the park near our house is finally over! This park has a great new dog park with lots of drainage, a doggie fountain and multiple entrances. With the large paths and benches it really reminds me of the parks in NYC.

One of our favourite spots to take Tim during the summer is Canoe Park at Cityplace. There is a wide expanse of grass for running, and a section of great water fountains for the little dude to cool off. Sometimes, he gets just a little *too* close.

I was recently asked to try out this super cool new dog product, the QR code dog tag by¬†SOS Pets. ¬†The company is huge in Sweden, but they are hoping to bring it to Canada. ¬†Tim is one of the first dogs to try it! ¬†The tag can be scanned by any code reader, and will immediately display the owner’s contact information. ¬†It’s an interesting service, and the website is also a great community for dog owners to chat and share photos. ¬†Kind of like Dogster.

Doesn’t he just look SO handsome!?

Home Park

It will come as no surprise that for every urban dog, there is a “home park”. A home park is the place you take your pooch on a daily basis to do their business and socialize. ¬†When we first got Tim our home park was Stanley Park. ¬†It was, and still is, my favourite. We have so many friends there, and still meet them for drinks occasionally. ¬†They also have a wicked Christmas party. ¬†Our second home park was Victoria Memorial Park, a great park, but full of drama thanks to the heritage status of the park and some overly zealous neighbours. While we still head to these parks on weekends and when the weather is good, our new home park is now Metro Hall, in Toronto.

While you wouldn’t expect many dogs at Metro Hall, but with the new Ritz Carlton residences and Bell Lightbox, there are actually quite a number of little dogs running around.

Still doesn’t feel like “home” yet, but I think it’ll be a nice place to visit.

Shop Till You Drop!

Toronto has just declared an Extreme Cold Weather Alert Рwhich basically means its going to be damn cold, not including windchill.  This does not bode well for our canine friends, particularly the skinny ones with no hair on their undersides.  Canines just like Timmy.

Last winter, while I really enjoyed his Chilly Dogs coat (you can read about that here), I couldn’t get over the notion that his little (big) ears must get pretty cold! ¬†We had fashioned a little hood for him out of a tube sock, by cutting the end off, and sliding his head through. ¬†This kept the ears pressed to the head, and hopefully warm. ¬†But he hated it, and it looked rediculous.

Well, lo and behold, while perusing Etsytoday, I found the solution! ¬†Now, if you aren’t familiar with the site, Etsy is basically a crafter’s paradise. ¬†It’s a site where people can post their handmade items for sale to the general public. ¬†They’ve got everything from¬†jewelery¬†to furniture, to clothing, soaps, knitting patterns and more. ¬†Much, much more. ¬†Etsy must have been made by the devil, because you could literally spend all day on it, not to mention thousands of dollars.

In any case, I came across this coat:

It’s made by VoyagersK9Apparel, out of Deerfield, Michigan. ¬†Notice the handy ear covers?! ¬†When you place your order they also ask for extensive measurements, so that this coat will fit like the proverbial glove! ¬†They even provide a YouTube link so you can make sure you take your measurements perfectly. ¬†Its not just for little dogs either. ¬†You can get your Boxer, Doberman, Boston Terrier and Greyhound fitted, and all other breeds as custom orders. ¬†Fingers crossed this is the solution to our winter problems!

It comes as no surprise that Tim is as much into Halloween as I am.

Here he is picking out a pumpkin:

And here he is modelling his new Halloween bandana, made especially for him by the official South Stanley Park Ambassador, Hazel. ¬† Lookin’ good!

Stay tuned for an official Halloween costume reveal!  Hint: This streamlined dog will become a little bit more amphibious.

A big thanks to Lilly and Bailey for passing these photos on!
