Hooray! WordPress has finally allowed me to blog on the go (or on the couch, as the case may be).
It’s May 2-4 weekend here in Canada, and so we were treated to a visit by my sis and bro-in-law and their most amazing baby, little B. Of course, Sousa was not far behind!
It also happened we were dogsitting Cymbal as well, so it was a full house!

Fort Erie Gets a Dog Park!

I think its really great when I see cities and towns developing dog parks.  It not only encourages people to take their dogs outside for some fun, its also great exercise for the whole family, helps people get t0 know their neighbours and get involved in their communities.  Kudos to the Fort Erie town council for this great development!  The Sugarbowl Off Leash Park is a good size (about 1 acre) with varied terrain.  Not much in the way of trees or benches thus far, but I think this will change come spring.  There is a double-gated entrance with bags available for picking up.

Here are some pictures from our own family outing to the park on Christmas Day.  Notice all the snow!  Toronto has absolutely none, so this was fun to enjoy on the holiday.

Shop Till You Drop!

Toronto has just declared an Extreme Cold Weather Alert Рwhich basically means its going to be damn cold, not including windchill.  This does not bode well for our canine friends, particularly the skinny ones with no hair on their undersides.  Canines just like Timmy.

Last winter, while I really enjoyed his Chilly Dogs coat (you can read about that here), I couldn’t get over the notion that his little (big) ears must get pretty cold! ¬†We had fashioned a little hood for him out of a tube sock, by cutting the end off, and sliding his head through. ¬†This kept the ears pressed to the head, and hopefully warm. ¬†But he hated it, and it looked rediculous.

Well, lo and behold, while perusing Etsytoday, I found the solution! ¬†Now, if you aren’t familiar with the site, Etsy is basically a crafter’s paradise. ¬†It’s a site where people can post their handmade items for sale to the general public. ¬†They’ve got everything from¬†jewelery¬†to furniture, to clothing, soaps, knitting patterns and more. ¬†Much, much more. ¬†Etsy must have been made by the devil, because you could literally spend all day on it, not to mention thousands of dollars.

In any case, I came across this coat:

It’s made by VoyagersK9Apparel, out of Deerfield, Michigan. ¬†Notice the handy ear covers?! ¬†When you place your order they also ask for extensive measurements, so that this coat will fit like the proverbial glove! ¬†They even provide a YouTube link so you can make sure you take your measurements perfectly. ¬†Its not just for little dogs either. ¬†You can get your Boxer, Doberman, Boston Terrier and Greyhound fitted, and all other breeds as custom orders. ¬†Fingers crossed this is the solution to our winter problems!

Last weekend we had our family over for a visit, including my darling Boston Terrier¬†niece, Sousa. ¬†Tim and Sousa always have a great time together, and last weekend was no exception. ¬†I think we were all surprised, however, to turn around and find a third dog in our living room! ¬†Living on the 11th floor of our condo building made this sudden ¬†appearance even a little more mysterious…

Who could this be?  And where did he come from?  Turns out, this teeny little Pomeranian was able to squeeze under the barrier between our balcony and the balcony next door!  Tim and Sousa were delighted, because this new addition could only mean 1 thing:  TAG TEAM!

Despite our best efforts (neighbours included), little Bentley is quite the Houdini, and manages to come over to play at least once a week.  He recently got a mohawk.  Cute!

Tim’s not the only high profile dog around, his cousin Sousa is a mover and a shaker in the high tech industry…

“That’s right Tim, buy rimm stock at 50!”

We were lucky enough to spend our Christmas holidays with Mikes family in Ottawa this year. ¬†Luckily, Timmy behaved very well. ¬†There was a LOT more snow there than there was here, and at some points it was over Timmy’s head! ¬†Becky and I took the pups out for a stroll along the Ottawa river, and it was spectacular. ¬†Sousa and Tim had such a great time leaping in and out of the snow. ¬†It was precious really.

Bry and Beck decided to head to Quebec City for a romantic winter getaway, which meant that we got to watch Sousa!  Hooray!

Here’s a pic of the little buddies on the way home from Ottawa:
