A New Walker

So we sold our condo and have upped sticks further downtown.  Which means we lost our awesome dog walker.  Boo!

It is always hard to put your trust in new people, particularly when our first dog walker had been such a really, really bad experience. Our second walker, Yvette, was super awesome and great with Timmy, and we were so sad her territory wouldn’t cover our new neighbourhood.  Luckily, she put us into contact with Lindsay from The Hydrant.

Lindsay came to meet us and immediately (and with copious amounts of treats) was able to earn Timmy’s trust. After the initial meeting and the first few successful walks, Lindsay posted this awesome blog post on how to get nervous dogs like Timmy to get comfortable with new people. It was great!  It definitely contained advice I wish everyone knew. Tim really gets set off by people looking him in the eye, and that was her #1 piece of advice when meeting new dogs: Don’t look them directly in the eyes!

She also sent along this picture from today’s outing:

All in all, it seems like this is going to be a great relationship!
