The Gong Show

My main concern for Tim Tam was reducing his fear at night while we slept.

Becky had told us that a dirty sock filled with rice and microwaved really help Sousa settle in.  So we put him in his crate-  on the floor next to me and made his dirty rice bag.

And it seemed to work.  For like, 5 minutes.

And then the whimpering started.

Luckily, I had read in more than one book that a little bit of loud noise will startle them out of the whimper, and teach them that when they cry, bad things happen.  The key is, they aren’t supposed to know the sound is coming from you.  So, I rigged up a gong.  Using a wooden spatula and an upturned mixing bowl, I had to use the gong only 3 times last night!  Not too shabby!

We went to bed at 11:30, and I got up at 5 for our FIRST OUTDOOR PEE AND POO!   Victory!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets just hope we can keep this up…at the moment Mike is falling asleep at his desk at work, and I’m attempting to find an intravenous coffee-drip line, but we’ll manage!

Good times!

Love the gong idea! Why didn’t we know about that?
